Altafulla |
 |
Situated on the Costa Dorada, Altafulla is a little fishing village and a preferred destination of tourists. It is also close to the banks of the river Gaia, and offers a wide range of tourist attractions. The town has wonderfully retained its ancient, bucolic charm, and it is quite a pleasure to stroll along its narrow streets. This seaside village has an antique quarter where one is transported to an ancient medieval era. The area is called "Vila Closa," and its streets and buildings are a lovely historical treat. Altafulla s Roman heritage is still visible in the impressive ruins in the area. As well, its fine sandy beaches and crystal clear water is what makes Altafulla and the rest of the Costa Dorada famous, making many a tourist from all over the world return, time and again.
During your stay in Altafulla, you should also not miss its cultural and historical attractions: the castle of Altafulla or the Baroque church of Sant Marti in Villa Closa . Other very interesting destinations in and around Altafulla are: the esplanade 'Les Botigues de Mar' with its many shopping options along the Costa Dorada , the Villa Romana dels Munts - ancient ruins of a Roman city from the first century, and the Villa Closa houses from the Roman area.
Altafulla is also a city to have some fun camping. It has three camping venues that families can truly enjoy -- the Don Quijote, Santa Eulalia, and the Altafulla campsites. These campsites offer hotel amenities like hot and cold showers, sinks, foot wash, washing machines, and dishwashers. Safety deposit boxes and telephones are also available. The camps are near by playgrounds, salons, bars, and supermarkets for the guests comfort and convenience. Of course, the campsites offer the common activities such as horseback riding and other sports.
